Dear Parents & Eagles, We are very excited for our annual Halloween Parade coming up! Eagles please make sure that your costume is appropriate …Please note that costumes involving fake blood are not allowed. Actual weapons or look-alike weapons are not allowed. Masks that cover the face and head are not allowed. Costume make-up is not allowed. The “creepy clown” phenomenon that has received considerable attention on the news and social media has resulted in a degree of both anxiety and fear among our students and the larger school community. Consequently, clown-related costumes are prohibited this year. Hopefully we will be able to parade outside through the neighborhood. If the weather does not allow for an outdoor parade, we will parade inside the school. Parents are always invited to watch the parade. Thank you for your cooperation in making our Halloween celebration safe and enjoyable for our students. We look forward to seeing you on October 31st! Sincerely, Mrs. Catherine Fletcher Principal

Eagles,

Hope you are enjoying your summer! Taking time to relax and be with our families is so important. Remember to take some time each day to work on your Summer Challenge. Hopefully you have found your 'right time and place' and are off to a great start! Believe it or not you have already been at home for two weeks!! If you haven't gotten into your Summer Challenge groove now is the time!

Take care and we will see you soon,
All my best,

The staff considers and balances many factors in the sectioning process:

Individual Learning       Gender balance
Student combinations    Special education needs         Support services needs                         Class size
Academic strengths       Academic weaknesses

Our placement process is a team effort that is completed with great care and consideration. Teachers review initial lists with specialists to ensure that we have not overlooked any aspect of appropriate placement based on the factors listed above. Occasionally, parents wish to share information or specific needs that may help in the sectioning process, parental requests should be submitted in writing (letters or emails) to my attention no later than Friday, May 20, 2016. No letters will be accepted after this date. Letters should cite reasons for wanting a specific learning environment not a specific teacher.

We ask that you do not make requests for placement into a specific classroom for your child. Such requests cannot be considered, as this opportunity cannot be available to all children. We trust you will rely on our professional judgment as we group the children with the idea of creating the best learning environment for them. Letters requesting a specific teacher will be returned.

Classroom assignments for the 2016-2017 school year will be posted during our Back to School Breakfast on Tuesday, August 16th from 7:30 - 8:30.

I close my letter with a sincere thanks to each of you for your continued cooperation, support, and understanding. We look forward to working with you throughout the remainder of the school year.

Sincerely,

Catherine Fletcher

Heritage Community,

Thank you to all our families who have already completed the survey! We currently have had 29% of our parents complete the survey.  Our goal is to have 40% of our families to participate in taking the survey.    If you still have yet to take the 5Essentials Survey, the window is open until March 11th .  To take the parent survey, please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ .  Once you are in the site, please search schools by typing inHeritage Elementary.  Thank you in advance for your feedback.
